FASTCAST Bridges & Gantries are factory engineered, minimising cost, time and health and safety risks on site and are produced strictly in accordance with the Specification for Highway Works, Volume 1. Buchan produces a comprehensive range of bridges and gantries at its Byley factory, offering a bespoke service to suit the demands of any scheme.

In-house designers use specialised CAD systems to ensure that every detail of a specification is satisfied. Computer controlled manufacturing processes, sophisticated testing procedures and stringent quality controls guarantee that the specified product is the delivered product.

Buchan sales support and technical advisory staff provide invaluable assistance at every stage of a project’s life, from guidance on the appropriate beam of choice to on-site advice on installation. In terms of visual appearance, all Buchan products including deck elevations, parapets, piers, abutments and wing walls, can be designed using a range of treatments.

BALLINGDON BRIDGE
The British Precast Concrete Award 2004, was presented to Buchan in recognition of the innovative work carried out on the reinforced concrete bridge structure in Suffolk.

The bridge delineates a fine edge and creates an elegant symmetrical reflection in the river. The feet of the bridge appear to lightly touch the surface of the water. Buchan’s capability to overcome the environmental and aesthetic constraints meant we were the obvious choice for delivering this complex project.

The key to the production of the precast elements was the high-Tec fabrication of the moulds.

MOULD MANUFACTURE
Buchan’s mould manufacturing facility has evolved over 35 years and comprises a team of patternmakers, fabricators and mould makers, capable of producing complex, high accuracy, close tolerance moulds in concrete, steel, timber and plastic, to meet the demanding specifications set by our customers.

Buchan has also supplied moulds and provided technical assistance for segment production in America, Europe and Asia. Our R & D department specialises in the creation of full size, and scale working models for project planning and development.
